MC GREGOR HISTORICAL SOCIETY RECEIVES UMGC GRANT
The McGregor Historical Society is pleased to announce they were awarded a $15,000 grant from the Upper Mississippi Gaming Commission. The grant award is for the comprehensive inventory of the McGregor Museum’s collection of artifacts and documents. The grant will initiate phase one of the project with securing a collection’s specialist to assist and train volunteers on the proper inventory techniques as well as using the essential software for the searchable inventory database.
“We are very thankful to UMGC for this award,” said McGregor Historical Society President, Patti Ruff. “The $15,000 gives a great starting point to create a complete catalog of the items the museum has in its possession. This will assist folks in doing research, help the museum create new displays, and become a better educational tool of McGregor’s vibrant history.”
The work is slated to begin in January with phase one being completed by August of 2025.
Upper Mississippi Gaming Corporation Awards Grant to Clayton County Womenade
Clayton County Womenade would like to thank and acknowledge the generosity of the Upper Mississippi Gaming Commission Board in awarding our cause a funding grant. The funds will make it possible to help so many more of our neighbors that just need a Hand UP, not a Hand out. This non-profit organization of concerned citizens awards funds requested by designated agencies from Clayton County to help with rent, utilities, transportation, basic needs and other unexpected expenses resulting from illness, injury, divorce, domestic abuse, etc. when other funding sources are unavailable or have been exhausted. There is no overhead, all donations made to the organization go directly to helping those in need. The organization relies on donations of members and other concerned citizens "paying it forward". Donations may be made by check payable to Clayton County Womenade at or mailed to Peoples State Bank in Guttenberg, PO Box 430, Guttenberg, IA 52052 or by PayPal by entering womenade@alpinecom.net as the recipient. The organization also receives Thrivent Choice Dollars and has received a grant from the Clayton County Foundation for the Future.
