Shirley Mae Haigh, 89, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. She was born on February 5, 1935, in Hayti, Missouri, the daughter of Tommy and Ethel (Knight) Ball. Shirley received her teaching degree at Southeast Missouri State College in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
On February 14, 1980, Shirley married Howard Haigh in Springville. They resided in Manchester. She enjoyed teaching elementary for many years in Central City. Shirley enjoyed dancing, crossword puzzles, a diet Dr. Pepper and Subway. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her children, Reid (Sabrina) Caudill of Iowa, Tom (Kim) Mitchell of Alabama, Terry (Darci) Caudill of Iowa, and Sandy Tullock of Missouri; two stepchildren, Hartsel (Helen “Kitty”) Haigh of California, and Ulaine J. (Harry) Delancey of Anamosa; daughter-in-law, Sue Haigh of Asbury; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Howard Haigh in 2017; and sons-in-law, Hubert and Howard Haigh.
