On Saturday January 25, 2025, from 10 AM to Noon, the Edgewood Public Library is celebrating National Seed Swap Day, in a partnership with Nine Square Feet.
From Nine Square Feet....
We think SEEDS are miraculous - so come celebrate National Seed Swap Day 1/25/2025 with us.
It's our 10th annual Seed Swap and Giveaway! *
Our first Seed Swap was at a little coffee shop in Valley Junction way back in March 2015. Back then it was a one-woman show with 400 donated seed packets and attended by 40 excited, seed-loving folks. Maybe some of you remember being there.
Fast forward to 2025 and we'll be swapping and sharing many thousands of seed packets at the Des Moines Central Library downtown, as well as the West Des Moines and Indianola libraries. Not to mention the thirty-two other libraries* all across the state: Albion, Burlington, Cambridge, Carroll, Cedar Falls, Central City, Clarinda, Clinton, Delhi, Dubuque, EDGEWOOD, Glidden, Gowrie, Grinnell, Griswold, Hiawatha, Iowa Falls, Jesup, Keokuk, Lamoni, Lenox, Mason City, Melbourne, Nevada, Orange City, Readlyn, State Center, Stuart, Swisher, Wapello, Waverly, and Webster City. * Be sure to check with your desired swap site for event hours, which may be different.
An awesome collection of seed varieties - vegetables and herbs, flowers, and native prairie species. Small space selections. Easy-to-grow varieties. Perennial and pollinator-friendly selections. We bet you’ll find just the right varieties for your garden.
Every attendee can choose up to 5 free packets of seed (children 12 and under can pick 2 free packets of their very own). Bring a gardening buddy or the whole family.
The Edgewood Public Library swap site is participating in a food pantry drive. Bring up to 3 non-perishables food items for up to 3 additional seed packets!
Do you have seed to swap? Swap up to 10 packets of your saved seed 1-for-1.
We're sure you'll find inspiration and something special that you just have to squeeze into your garden plans. Don’t miss the event to kick off your dream garden - our 10th annual Seed Swap and Giveaway!
