Rural New Vienna Barn Fire

On April 11, 2025 at approximately 2117 hours, the Dubuque County Sheriff's Office along with fire units from New Vienna, Holy Cross, Farley, and Dyersville responded to 28131 North Bankston Rd. for the report of a structure fire.  Upon arrival, a 50 ft x 50 ft barn was fully engulfed.  Homeowners Charlie and Carrie Deutmeyer were not home at the time of the fire.  The Deutmeyer’s estimate losses of approximate $150,000. An unknown number of livestock were injured as a result of the fire. No human injuries were reported. The fire is not suspicious in nature and remains under investigation.
