Prairie du Chien School Board

The Prairie du Chien School Board approved a number of preliminary cuts to programs and staff. The moves were made after a 1.75-million dollar annual referendum, totaling seven-million over four years, was turned down by voters on April 1st.

The proposal for 26-27 school year includes a plan to close the B.A. Kennedy building and they will work on plans to move Bluff View Middle School Students to the High School, Bluff View Elementary Students to Bluff View Middle School and B.A. Kennedy students to Bluff View Elementary.

For 25-26 the Board approved a reduction of bus routes from seven to six and three less-in town stops.

They also approved eliminating a 7 thru 12 Math and Music position and a reduction of two Math positions to 75 and 70-percent.

They gave preliminary approval for reduction of academic programming including the Criminal Justice Class, Chinese, High School Drive Courses and an increase of class sizes for grades 7 to 12 and more.

The preliminary Co-Curricular cuts include the High School Gymnastic Program, Dance, Cheerleading, some Advisor positions and more.

The cuts also include a 40-thousand reduction in the Athletic Program and a 107-thousand dollar reduction for the Technology Budget.

The preliminary cuts will be discussed again at the May School Board Meeting.

The Board accepted the resignation of Jordan Reuter as Physical Education Teacher and Boys Basketball Coach. Cory Willhite resigned as English Teacher, Rosa Dolven as Spanish Teacher, Jon Duke and Kelly Gagliardi as Teachers. Mike Rogge resigned as Head Wrestling Coach. Lacy Nelson and Hally Rittmer resigned as Associates.

The Board approved the hiring of Hali Fischer, Taylor Langmeier, Alissa Davis and Eric Mumm as Middle School Track Coaches. Ron Sedgwick for JV Baseball.
