Oelwein Police Releases

At 10:03am on March 27, 2025, Oelwein Police arrested Jason Adam Keninger, 48, of Independence.  Keninger was arrested on a Buchanan County warrant for Violation of Probation.  This arrest was made at the Oelwein Adult Probation Office.

At 2:52pm on March 27, 2025, Oelwein Police investigated a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Rock Island Rd and 20th St SE.  A white 2025 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Julie Schulmeister collided with a red 2021 Toyota RAV4 driven by Alexis See.  Initial estimates of damages were $2,000 to the vehicle driven by Schulmeister and $10,000 to the vehicle driven by See.  Schulmeister was determined to be at fault for the accident, and was issued a citation for Failure to Yield Upon Left Turn.

At 2:26pm on March 26, 2025, Oelwein Police investigated a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of 4th St SE and 6th Ave SE.  A red 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan driven by Rae Gebhardt collided with a red 2014 Honda Odyssey driven by a 17-year-old female juvenile.  Initial estimated of damages were $4,000 to the vehicle driven by Gebhardt and $3,000 to the vehicle driven by the juvenile.  Gebhardt was determined to be at fault for failing to yield right of way at an uncontrolled intersection.
