Oelwein Police Releases

At 10:54am on April 5, 2025, Oelwein Police charged Brent Joseph Thompson, 40, of Oelwein with Driving While License Suspended.  Thompson was issued a citation and summons to court for the infraction following a traffic stop in the 10 block of 1st Ave SE.

 

At 8:15pm on April 6, 2025, Oelwein Police arrested Owen Stuart David Williams, 45, of Oelwein.  Williams was arrested on two Fayette County warrants for original charges of Assault Causing Bodily Injury - Serious Misdemeanor and Disorderly Conduct - Simple Misdemeanor.  This arrest was made in the 500 block of 2nd St SE.

 

At 10:48am on April 7. 2025, Oelwein Police charged a 13-year-old male juvenile with Minor Using Tobacco/Vape Device 1st Offense.  This juvenile was issued a citation for the offense and released to guardians, and the matter has been referred to Juvenile Court.  A second 13-year-old male juvenile was found to be in possession of a THC product and was referred to Juvenile Court Services.  Contact was made with both juveniles following a report of students possessing vapes at the Oelwein Middle School.

 

At 4:32pm on April 7, 2025, Oelwein Police formally filed charges on a 12-year-old female juvenile following an investigation into an incident reported on March 22, 2025.  The juvenile was charged with Bestiality - Aggravated Misdemeanor and Dissemination of Obscene Materials to Minors - Serious Misdemeanor.  This matter has been referred to Juvenile Court, and additional charges are pending as the matter is still under investigation.

 

At 1:23pm on April 8, 2025, Oelwein Police charged Leslie David Lee, 61, of Oelwein with Littering/Unlawful Disposal on Public Property.  Lee was issued a citation and summons to court for the infraction following a report of illegal dumping at the city recycling bins on March 31, 2025.


At 4:59pm on April 3, 2025, Oelwein Police investigated a motor vehicle accident in the 400 block of S Frederick Ave.  A red 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Jason Burkey collided with a red 2003 Buick Park Avenue driven by Mary Fish.  Initial estimates of damages were $3,000 to the vehicle driven by Burkey and $5,000 to the vehicle driven by Fish.  Burkey was assigned fault for the accident and was cited for Failure to Yield Upon Entering Roadway.

 

At 9:32am on April 4, 2025, Oelwein Police charged a 16-year-old male juvenile with Minor using Tobacco/Vape Device 1st Offense.  The juvenile was issued a citation and a summons to court for the violation following a report of a student with a vape at the Oelwein High School.  The juvenile was released to guardians and the matter has been referred to Juvenile Court.
