Minnesota-Allamakee County Chase

On April 2, 2025 at 10:16 a.m., the Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office received information from the Houston County Minnesota Sheriff’s Office that Houston County Sheriff’s Deputies were attempting to stop a fleeing vehicle driven by Tyler Michael Pierce (age 39) traveling south on State Highway 76 N toward the Iowa Minnesota border. Pierce had struck a Houston County Sheriff’s vehicle while attempting to elude law enforcement. Pierce was wanted on an Iowa arrest warrant at this time.
The pursuit entered Allamakee County and continued south on State Highway 76 N. where Allamakee County Sheriff’s Deputies entered the pursuit. The pursuit travelled westbound into Winneshiek County and entered back into Minnesota, continuing into Filmore County. Law enforcement officers deployed “stop sticks” and were successful in deflating three of the vehicle’s tires. The vehicle continued on at speeds in excess of 90 mph. As the fleeing vehicle entered the City of Preston, Minnesota on Highway 52, the vehicle attempted to pass a semi tractor trailer on the right and struck the semi, causing severe damage to the 2007 Honda Accord. The vehicle came to a stop and Pierce was taken into custody.
Pierce was transported by ambulance to a Rochester, Minnesota hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. Pierce is currently in the custody of Minnesota Law Enforcement. No other persons were injured.
A Houston County Sheriff patrol vehicle and Allamakee County Sheriff patrol vehicle sustained damage during the pursuit.
The incident remains under investigation with further charges pending.
