Two Arrested on Multiple Drug and Weapon Charges Following Traffic Stop in Mineral Point
Mineral Point, WI – January 28, 2025 – Iowa County Sheriff’s Deputies, with the assistance of K9 Fenix, conducted a traffic stop on US Highway 151 and North Oak Park Rd in the Township of Mineral Point at approximately 9:13 PM on January 28, 2025. The stop resulted in the arrest of two individuals on multiple charges related to drug trafficking and weapons possession. During the stop, a significant amount of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia was seized.
Authorities recovered the following items from the vehicle:
5.0 ounces of Methamphetamine
26 grams of Crack Cocaine
1 gram of Fentanyl
2 ounces of THC
Shellie R. McCane, 53, of Manchester, IA, was identified as the driver of the vehicle and was arrested on the following charges:
Possession with Intent to Deliver Amphetamine
Possession with Intent to Deliver Designer Drugs
Possession with Intent to Deliver THC
Possession with Intent to Deliver Cocaine
Possession with Intent to Deliver Narcotic Drugs
Possession of an Electronic Weapon
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia to Manufacture, Compound, Produce, or Store Methamphetamine
Michael D. Scates, 42, of Madison, WI, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was arrested on similar charges, including:
Possession with Intent to Deliver Amphetamine
Possession with Intent to Deliver Designer Drugs
Possession with Intent to Deliver THC
Possession with Intent to Deliver Cocaine
Possession with Intent to Deliver Narcotic Drugs
Possession of an Electronic Weapon
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia to Manufacture, Compound, Produce, or Store Methamphetamine
Resisting or Obstructing an Officer
Both McCane and Scates were transported to the Iowa County Jail, where they are currently being held awaiting a bond hearing.
