Fatal Crash

On April 26, 2025 at approximately 11:29 pm the Grant County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a one vehicle rollover crash on Hwy 61 near Stenner Hill Rd located in the Township of Marion.

The investigation determined a 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer was traveling northbound on Hwy 61 and was occupied by a single driver. The driver was negotiating a right hand curve in the roadway as it traveled downhill. The vehicle appeared to have lost control as it came out of the curve and started to slide before leaving the roadway on the east side (right side). The vehicle entered the gravel shoulder and subsequently, the ditch. The vehicle continued in the ditch for a distance before it ultimately rolled multiple times, coming to rest on its roof.

The driver was ejected from the vehicle during the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. As a result of the crash, both lanes of Hwy 61 were shut down for approximately one hour.

Additionally, earlier that day, Sauk County notified Grant County the vehicle had been stolen out of their county.

The Grant County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Fennimore Police Department, Boscobel Fire Department, Fennimore Fire Department, Boscobel EMS, Fennimore EMS, Sauk County Sheriff's Office, the Grant County Coroner's Office, and Terry's Towing out of Boscobel.

The identification of the driver is being withheld pending notification of family. The crash remains under investigation.
