Grant County Crashes

Two Vehicle Crash No Injury

On September 12th at approximately 11:41am, the Sheriff's Office was notified of a two-vehicle crash on Highway 133 at Jervis Street in the Village of Woodman. After investigation, it was found that Larry Bedward, age 67 of Woodman, was operating his 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 southbound on Highway 133 pulling a small utility trailer. Michael Tillotson, age 50 of Bagley, was operating a 2015 Kia Optima directly behind Bedward.

Bedward slowed down and signaled to make a right turn onto Jervis Street. Tillotson stated he was talking to his juvenile passenger and did not see brake lights or a turn signal activate on the Dodge Ram or trailer. The front passenger side of Tillotson's vehicle collided with the rear of Bedward's trailer as Bedward was making the turn onto Jervis Street. The lights of the Dodge Ram and trailer were all found to be functional after the crash.

All parties involved were wearing seatbelts and were uninjured in the crash. The Dodge Ram was not damaged in the crash; the trailer received disabling damage. The Kia Optima received moderate damage to the front end and was driveable. Tillotson was cited for Operating a Motor Vehicle without Insurance and Non-Registration of Auto. He was also issued a written warning for Inattentive Driving.

TWO VEHICLE CRASH

On September 12, 2024, at 1pm, the Grant County Sheriff's Office responded to a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Hwy 18 and Hwy 80, in Montfort. Upon arrival, it was determined that Carlos Plana Lobo, age 24 of Boscobel, was driving his 2009 Toyota east on Hwy 18 in Montfort. At the same time, Faye Pensel, 87 of Livingston, was stopped at the stop sign on Cth I at Hwy 18. Pensel observed the east bound Toyota, but indicated the Toyota was at safe distance where she could continue south to Hwy 80. As Pensel was almost through the entire intersection, the east bound Toyota struck Pensel's rear passenger tire.

Both vehicles were heavily damaged in the crash and were removed from the scene by Haase's Towing. A witness to the crash, states the Toyota was in an excess of the posted 35mph speed limit and there was enough distance for Pensel to cross Hwy 18 if the Toyota was driving the speed limit.

As a result of the investigation, Mr. Plana Lobo was cited for Driving without a license and no insurance. A warning was also given to Mr. Plana Lobo for speeding, as he admitted to the officer his speed was 37mph in the 35mph zone.

No injures were reported in this crash and Montfort Fire Department assisted as the scene.
