Fayette Single Vehicle Accident

On April 15th, 2025, at approximately 12:24 a.m. the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a report of a single vehicle accident at the area of W Ave. and Hwy 3. When a deputy arrived, it was learned that a vehicle drove through a barrier marking the bridge construction on Hwy 3 west of W Ave. After striking the barrier the driver then traveled on, only stopping when he struck heavy machinery. Upon investigation, the driver was found to be impaired due to alcohol consumption prior to operating his 2014 Cadillac ATS. The driver, identified as Dillon L. Dugan, age 24 of Oelwein, was placed under arrest for Operating While Intoxicated First Offense and held at the Fayette County Jail pending initial appearance in court.
