On 12-5-24 at approximately 11:30 a.m. a Fayette County Deputy arrested Lyle G. Butikofer, 63, of Elgin on a valid address warrant. The warrant was for Escape from Custody, a class “D” felony. Bond was set in the amount of $5000.00 cash only. Butikofer was taken into custody and transported to the Fayette County Jail where he is being held. The Fayette County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Clayton County Sheriff's Office.
On December 7, 2024, at approximately 1:02pm, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call of a two vehicle accident on Cedar Road near Filmore Road, approximately three miles north of Wadena. After further investigation, it was determined that Beverly Irene Brumm, age 39 of Postville, was traveling northbound with her two children in a Red 2011 GMC Acadia SLT-1, when they were struck from behind by Justin Amos Pritchard, age 43 of Decorah, who was also northbound and operating a Blue 2013 Chevrolet Equinox LT. Minor injuries were received and cleared by medical personnel. The Acadia was disabled and received approximately $10,000 in damages. The Equinox is considered a total loss.
Pritchard was found to be intoxicated and was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated 1st Offense (Serious Misdemeanor), Failure to Maintain Control (Simple Misdemeanor), and Failure to provide proof of Financial Liability (Simple Misdemeanor). Also, Beverly Brumm received a citation for No Valid Driver’s License.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Wadena Fire Department, Wadena First Responders, and Gundersen Ambulance.
