Fayette County Accidents

On April 13th at approximately 9:06pm the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a single vehicle accident on X Ave near the intersection of 40th street. When a deputy arrived it was learned that a 15-year-old male was driving at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the 2000 Honda CRV. The vehicle made impact in the ditch and rolled approximately 4 times. The juvenile was transported to the hospital for his injuries. The vehicle sustained disabling damage and he was cited for failure to maintain control and violation of a minors restricted license. The accident is still under investigation.
On April 14th at approximately 3:45pm the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a two-vehicle accident on 230th Street near the intersection of O Ave. When a deputy arrived, it was learned that a15-year-old male was driving his 2001 Ford Ranger when he was unable to stop when traffic slowed down in front of him. 54-year-old Melissa Boess of Hawkeye was driving a 2010 Ford Edge when she was struck from the rear. The Edge sustained approximately $1500 in damage, and the Ranger sustained approximately $1000 in damage. No injuries were reported. The accident remains under investigation.
