The Elkader City Council approved the city budget for the upcoming fiscal year. The tax levy will be $30.46-per thousand an increase of $3.47 due to the debt service levy for the bridge. The Council set May 27th as the date to amend the current budget.
The Council approved the first reading of an ordinance to lower water rates and increase sewer rates. The proposal includes lowering the water rates by $5.80 a month, moving those funds to the Sewer Base Rate and increasing the sewer rates by an additional $2.70 a month.
The Council also approved sending concerns the city has with the Pattison Sand permit application to increase water usage from the Jordan Aquifer.
