DNR Pattison Water Meeting

75-people attended a public hearing at the Clayton County Office Building on Tuesday night in regards to a permit request from Pattison Sand Company in Clayton to increase its annual water useage. The company uses nearly one-billion gallons of water a year. If approved, the permit would allow them to use up to 3.7-billion gallons a year. Many spoke against the proposal with concerns on the effect on the local wells and questions on how will the water be used. The DNR has now started a 90-day permit process evaluation and a written comment portion in regards to the project will be extended.
