On 2/14/2025 at approximately 10:45 pm Clayton County Deputies were dispatched to the area of Highway 18 and Dogwood Ave for a suspicious person. When deputies arrived on scene, they came into contact with Ealing Evelio Rodrigues (39). Deputies began to notice signs of extreme impairment. The individual was placed under arrest for Public Intoxication and transported to the Clayton County Sheriff's Office.
On February 4th, 2025, at approximately 8 p.m., a Clayton County deputy on patrol in the city of McGregor observed a possible no-contact order violation. The deputy verified via vehicle registration records that the female registered owner of a vehicle in the Kwik Star parking lot was the protected party in a no-contact order. The deputy observed a male subject who was accompanying her matched the physical description of the male subject with whom she was the protected party. The deputy, along with an officer from the Mar-Mac Police Department, conducted an investigatory traffic stop on A Street near Main Street in McGregor and confirmed that the no-contact order was being violated. Multiple injuries were observed on the female party, and the male, identified as Matthew Roger Davis (30) of Prairie du Chien, WI was taken into custody. While on the traffic stop, a K9 unit alerted to the presence of one or more prohibited substances and a probable cause search yielded methamphetamine. Davis was arrested and transported to the Clayton County Jail where he was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault with Injury, (Serious Misdemeanor), Assault Committed by a Person Against Whom a Protection Order Exists, (Class D Felony), Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine; a Serious Misdemeanor), and Violation of a No-Contact Order (Simple Misdemeanor). Davis is being held on a $10,000 cash-only bond. The Clayton County Sheriff's Office was assisted on the traffic stop by the Mar-Mac Police Department and the Prairie du Chien K9 Unit.
On February 15, 2025, at approximately 7:40 AM the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an attempted theft of gasoline in rural Guttenberg. Another report of attempted theft was reported on March 1st, at approximately 7:14 AM at the same location. Video surveillance was obtained, and a suspect vehicle was identified which was later found in the City of Guttenberg. Deputies contacted the suspects who were identified as Noah R. Billmeyer,18, of Guttenberg, IA and a juvenile male. The investigation progressed and Mr. Billmeyer was charged with trespassing 1st offense, possession of alcohol under legal age, and manner of conveyance. The male juvenile was cited for trespassing 1st offense and referred for possession of alcohol under legal age.
On February 23rd, 2025 at approximately 1:17 PM Clayton County Sheriff's Deputies arrested Diriye Mohamed (26) of Postville. Mr. Mohamed was arrested on an active arrest warrant out of Clayton County for failure to appear. Mr. Mohamed also had an active arrest warrant out of Winneshiek County for Theft in the 5th degree. Mr. Mohamed was taken into custody and held at the Clayton County Law Enforcement Center pending an initial appearance.
On February 26th, Clayton County deputies responded to a one vehicle rollover accident rural Garnavillo. The driver was identified as Brandon Wahls, 24, of Garnavillo, operating a 2008 Chevy Impala east on Clayton Road when he lost control on the ice-covered roadway entering the south ditch rolling his vehicle. Wahls was not injured in the accident and the vehicle was a total loss.
On February 27th, Clayton County deputies responded to a one vehicle accident in rural Clayton Center. The driver was identified as Adam Sadewasser, 40, of Guttenberg, operating a 2010 Hyundai Accent west on Highway 128 when he lost control on the ice-covered roadway entering the south ditch striking a fence owned by the Clayton Center Cemetery. Mr. Sadewasser was not injured in the accident but the vehicle and fence had moderate damage.
On February 27, Clayton County deputies served an arrest warrant on Kyle Sear for failure to appear.
