Allamakee County Bridge Work

NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – March 13, 2025 – If you drive on Iowa 76 north of Allamakee County Road A-26 you need to be aware of a bridge replacement project that may slow down your trip.

Beginning on Tuesday, March 25, until early November, weather permitting, crews will be working on replacing the Iowa 76 bridge over Waterloo Creek 2.2 miles north of Allamakee County Road A-26. Iowa 76 will remain open to traffic during this project. You will be directed through the work zone with temporary traffic signals so staged construction can occur.

There will be a lane-width restriction of 11 feet during the first stage of construction, and 10 feet during the second stage.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
