July 10th Scores

The Ed-Co five through nine hitters each drove in at least one run as the Lady Vikings topped South Winneshiek 8-4 in a 1-A Regional Semi-Final.  Five-hitter Delaney Bergan had two hits, drove in a pair and scored twice.  Six-through-eight hitters Kelsey Hansel, MacKenzie Schmitz, and Annie Hoffman each singled, drove in a run and scored.  Nine-hitter Ella Aulwes doubled in a run as part of a six-run fourth inning.  For South Winn, Ashley Kriener went three for four and scored twice.  Mary Frana tripled in a run and scored, and Sierra Brietspecher drove in a run.  The Warriors scored two in the top of the first.  Ed-Co did not have a base runner reach until the fourth, but then erupted for six runs in the bottom half.  They sent ten to the plate and grabbed control with six runs on four hits and helped out by two errors.  Liz Meisner picked up the win working into the seventh inning.  Meisner allowed nine hits, four runs, walked no one and struck out three.  Annie Hoffman got the final two outs to end a Warriors threat in the seventh.  South Winn closes the season at 10 and 20.  Ed-Co improves to 23 and 15 will play at Starmont on Friday night, the Stars advanced with a 12-7 win over Janesville.
