November 2nd Scores

The Edgewood-Colesburg defense made one-stop after another and the offense did just enough in a 6-0 Quarterfinal win over Bishop-Gerrigan.  The Vikings lost their leading rusher and tackler Preston Rochford to a right knee injury on their first offensive play.  Rochford returned for one defensive a short time later, but could not continue and finished the night on crutches.  The rest of the defense picked up the slack.  The Vikings forced five turnovers, including two fumbles forced by Parker Rochford.  Two of those fumbles stopped the Golden Bears inside the 20.  The defense also got a huge fourth down stop inside the 20 as well.  Ethan Streicher hooked up with Spencer Staner on a 37-yard pass for the games only score nearly midway through the fourth.  Streicher completed 10 of 17-passes for 110-yards, one touchdown and one interception.  Parker Rochford had five receptions for 48-yards.  Staner had two receptions for 38-yards.  The Vikings were outgained 263 to 159.  However, the Golden Eagles only manufactured 89-yards in the second half.  Brad Capasius completed 10 of 17-passes for 98-yards and an interception.  Eric Thul carried the ball 14-times for 71-yards.  Bishop-Gerrigan closes the season 10 and 1.  Ed-Co improves to 10 and 1.  The Vikings play AHSTW in a Cass A Semi-Final on Friday, November 9th at 1pm.  AHSTW, also with the Vikings nickname,  advanced with a 31-14 win over Mason City Newman.
