ATV Safety

ATV Youth Safety Training Course Saturday, August 18th beginning at 9am Bailys Ford County Park 2379 Jefferson Road, Manchester Iowa South of Manchester on County Road D5X  ATV riders in the state of Iowa who are ages 12 through 17 are required to have taken and passed an ATV education course and have an education certificate in their possession when riding on public land, public ice, and designated riding areas and trails.  Completion of the course will provide participants with Iowa DNR Youth Safety Certification.  This is a classroom and rider-based course and is approximately 4-6 hours in length.  Students must provide their own properly-sized ATV with proper muffling equipment, a helmet, eye protection, over-the-ankle boots, long pants, a long-sleeve shirt, and rain gear if necessary.  Students must be able to safely demonstrate all of the skills taught in the class in order to earn their education certificate. A written exam is not part of this course.  Classes are taught by DNR-certified volunteer ATV education instructors.  The cost of the class is $25.00 per student which is required by the Iowa DNR for certification.  All students MUST be accompanied by a parent during the duration of the training.
