Assist Dubuque Vehicle Chase
On July 27, 2018 at approximately 10:25am The Grant County Sheriff's Office received a report from Dubuque PD that they were involved in a vehicle chase that was ultimately terminated. The suspect vehicle was last seen crossing the Dubuque/Wisconsin Bridge. A Grant County Deputy located the vehicle northbound on Hwy 151 near Church Rd in the Township of Paris. A traffic stop was initiated near Southwest Rd in the Township of Platteville but the vehicle did not stop. The Sheriff's Deputy was joined by a City of Platteville Officer on Hwy 151 near the CTY D overpass. The vehicle still did not stop. Eventually the suspect vehicle took the CTY XX Exit (exit 21) and stopped for officers on CTY XX under the Hwy 151 overpass. Both the driver, Garland Kennedy, age 24 from Milwaukee, and passenger, Omni Bourgeois, age 23 from Milwaukee, were taken into custody. It was also discovered their one year old child was in the vehicle at the time of the stop. After a brief
investigation, Kennedy was arrested and transport to the Grant County Jail for an Extraditable Felony Warrant issued in the State of Iowa regarding the incident that had taken place with Dubuque PD earlier in the morning. Bourgeois was released from the scene with her one year old child. Kennedy was cited for Failure to Obey a Traffic Officer's Signal/Order, Operating After Suspension, Non-Registration of a Motor Vehicle, Operating without Insurance, and Violation of Child Safety Restraints (child under 4 years of age). The Grant County Sheriff's Office was assisted in this matter by the Platteville Police Department and UW-Platteville Campus Police.
