On 7/7/18 at 2:15 PM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a two vehicle accident in the area of Grain and Grannis Roads, rural Fayette. An investigation determined that Alex Douglas Dettbarn, age 26, of Strawberry Point was operating a 2001 Ford Mustang northbound on Grannis Road and entering a left hand curve. Brylie Lynn Clark, age 18,  of Fayette  was operating  a 2011 Chevy Malibu southbound on Grannis Rd, entering the same curve. Both vehicles made contact with each other on the drivers side.  There was an estimated $500 damage to the Mustang and an estimated $5000 damage to the Malibu. Dettbarn was issued a citation for fail to provide proof of financial liability (accident) no one was injured. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Fayette Fire Dept and Fayette Ambulance.  

On 7/7/18 at 9:57 PM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a vehicle that struck two hogs on W Ave north of 200th Street.  An investigation determined that Keith Lavern Westpfahl, age 79, from Hawkeye was operating a 2000 Cadillac Deville northbound on W Ave when two adult hogs entered the roadway and were struck. There was an estimated $5000 damage to the vehicle. No one was injured.

On 7-8-18 at approx 1017pm the Fayette County Sheriff's Office took a report of a car vs deer accident in the 7000 block of Filmore Road. Upon investigation it was determined that Jenna Osterhus, age 18, of Wadena was traveling east bound on Filmore Road when a deer entered the roadway. Her 2008 Buick car sustained approx 2500 worth of damage. There were no injuries reported.
