Luana City Council Minutes of July 5, 2018

Meeting at the Luana City Hall

The Luana City Council held their regular monthly meeting Thursday, July 5, 2018 at 7:00 pm. with Council Members Lonnie Baade, Brenda Boddicker, Paul Miller, Todd Olson and Jackie Radloff-Schneider present. Absent: none.

Mayor Jerry Schroeder called meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Minutes of June meeting were reviewed and approved upon a motion by Radloff-Schneider, second by Miller carried unanimously.

Boddicker motioned to pay all monthly claims totaling $16,414.43, Radloff-Schneider second, carried unanimously. Receipts for the month totaled $33,128.16.Baade motioned to pass Res. 7-18 T.O.F, Radloff-Schneider second, carried unanimously. Council reviewed reconciled reports.

Council discussed fireworks within city limits. Current ordinance will be amended.

PWS informed council mower for ditches needs replacing. Miller motioned to purchase mower for ditches and not to exceed $1,000, Boddicker second, carried unanimously.

Olson motioned to approve Tractor Pull insurance in the amount of $381.00 to be reimbursed to the city by the Luana Community Club, Baade second, carried unanimously.

Consensus of council to wait to implement new W.E.T. tax until January 2019.

Radloff-Schneider motioned to add $2,000 to the already agreed local match of $3,373 for new warning siren for the city, Radloff-Schneider second, carried unanimously.

Council discussed poor driving conditions at railroad crossing located on Edgewood Avenue. Council was informed that the railroad company has been contacted numerous times. Administrator Humble will be contacting them again.

City wide appliance pickup will be scheduled for July 21st. Notice to all citizens that all doors from refrigerators/freezers need to be removed prior to pick up.

Next regular Council meeting will be held August 2, 2018 at 7:00pm.

Mayor Schroeder adjourned the meeting at 7:45 pm.
