On 7-2-18 at approximately 11:19 p.m. a Fayette County Deputy stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation in the city of Oelwein. Upon further investigation two 17 year old juveniles were smoking marijuana. Both juveniles were transported to the Oelwein Police Department where they were released to the parents. Both juveniles will be referred to the juvenile court services for possession of marijuana and more charges are pending. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Oelwein Police Department.


On 07/03/2018 at approx. 10:09 am Fayette County 911 received a call reporting a suspicious vehicle in the town of Clermont.  A short time later Fayette County Deputies located the vehicle outside a residence on State St. in Clermont. A female subject that was walking toward the porch of the residence that matched the description that the reporting party provided.  Through an investigation by the Deputy it was determined that 51 year old Margaret Carroll was operating her 2014 Chrysler 300c while under the influence.  Carroll was arrested and charged with operating under the influence first offense and transported to the Fayette County Jail where she awaits her initial appearance before a magistrate.
