 On 6/29/18 at 9:05 PM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took a report of an off road utility vehicle accident on 292nd St east of Juniper Rd. An investigation determined that Colin John Vagts age 23 from Eldorado was operating a UTV when he lost control. An 8 yr old passenger received serious injuries and was transported to Palmer Hospital in West Union where he was airlifted to Gunderson in Lacrosse then airlifted to Mayo Clinic in Rochester.  The incident remains under investigation and charges are pending.

On 6-29-18 at 11pm a Fayette County Deputy stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Upon investigation Jason Borsheim 38 was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated 2nd Offense, Child Endangerment, No Insurance, and Improper Use of Registration. He is being held at the Fayette County Jail awaiting an initial appearance.


On June 24, 2018 at approximately 2:40 PM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a single vehicle accident at Hwy 3 and L Ave. East of Oelwein.  Donald Reierson Jr of Elgin was driving his 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he failed to negotiate a curve, lost control and entered the west ditch. An investigation determined that Reierson did not have a valid driver’s license.  He was charged with failure to maintain control, driving while suspended, no insurance, and registration violations. Reierson was transported to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein for his injuries.  He was later transported to Iowa City by helicopter.  


On June 26, 2018 at approximately 9:40 PM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a motorcycle accident with injuries in the 18000 block of R Ave south of Hawkeye.  Deven Schultz 26, of Hawkeye was operating a 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he lost control of the motorcycle.  Schultz was transported to Palmer hospital by Sumner Area Ambulance.  He was charged with failure to have a valid motorcycle license.
