One vehicle crash
On June 25, 2018 around 8:07 a.m., the Grant County Sheriff's Office received a call from Jame Mahony, age 25 of Potosi. James reported he was operating his 2016 Chevy Malibu on Rockville road in the Town of Potosi, looked down to change the station on his car radio and crashed his car. He stated he was at the intersection of Rockville Road and County Road O. Upon investigation it was discovered James crossed into oncoming lane of traffic, struck a large embankment exited the ditch on to the roadway and continued south on Rockville road
with a tire blown and all the airbags were deployed. The vehicle was removed by Donnie's Tire and Tow and James was cited for Inattentive driving. No injuries reported.

2 Vehicle Crash with minor injuries
On 6/26/2018, at approximately 6:26 am, the Grant County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call in reference to a 2 vehicle crash on US-18 at Route 66 with injuries. Deputy arrived on scene where it was determined that Andrew Rognholt, age 29 from Blue River, was driving a 2000 Toyota Celica GT-S eastbound on US-18. Katie Witzig, age 20 of Montfort, was driving a 2007 GRAY Saturn Vue, also eastbound and was slowing /stopped to make a left turn onto Route 66 when she was hit from behind by Rognholt's vehicle. Contact with Andrew Rognholt stated he didn't see the vehicle in front of him. Rognholt was cited for Inattentive Driving. Rognholt was transported by Montfort EMS for minor injuries. Assisting at the scene Montfort EMS/Fire department, Tri-State Ambulance who was in the area, Haase's towing along with Terry's Tire&Tow.

Two vehicle crash w/injury
On June 27, 2018 at approximately 12:55 p.m., Cheyenne Hughey, age 22 of Stitzer, was southbound on Hwy 61 and Virgeana White, age 46 of Boscobel was also southbound on Hwy 61. Hughey was getting ready to make a left hand turn into Shopko. Hughey noticed a vehicle coming up behind her quickly and started the turn and the White vehicle struck the Hughey vehicle spinning the Hughey vehicle around and the White vehicle stopped in the northbound lane of Hwy 61. Both drivers were transported to Grant Regional for minor injuries. Assisting at the scene was the Lancaster Police Dept, Lancaster Rescue Squad and the Lancaster Fire Dept. The crash is under investigation.

Motorcylce vs. car crash Hwy 61 and Cty Rd E
On 06-27-2018 at approximately 5:51pm, Grant County Deputies were dispatched to a two vehicle crash on HWY 61 at Cty Rd E. Kerith J. Straka, age 61, of Montfort was making a left turn in her 2012 Chevrolet Malibu from Cty Rd. E onto Hwy 61. Straka pulled out in front of Gerold L. Kerkenbush, age 54, of Potosi who was traveling north Hwy 61, on his 2009 Harley Davidson . Kerkenbush was unable to stop and collided into the front driver side of Straka's Malibu. Kerkenbush suffered major injuries, and was transported by Lancaster Rescue Sqaud to a landing zone where care was transferred to Medflight. Kerkenbush was not wearing a helmet. Straka was evaluated by Lancaster EMS, but she refused transport. Also assisting on scene was Stitzer Fire Department, Fennimore Rescue Sqaud, Arrow Towing and Doans Body shop.
The crash remains under investigation.
