County Fatality

On Saturday, June 23rd, 2018, at approximately 4:23 p.m., the Clayton County Communications Center received several 911 calls reference a multiple vehicle accident on Highway 13 near the intersection of 215thStreet. Responding deputies located two motorcycles and a compact sport utility vehicle which had been involved in the accident. Deputies determined that a Northbound 2017 Buick Encore operated by 61 year old Joan Fish of Luana had collided with two southbound motorcycles, a 2004 Honda VTX1800 operated by 57 year old James Everett of Jesup and a Yamaha XVS1300  operated by 26 year old Jacob Moran of Independence. Everett was pronounced deceased at the scene. Jacob Moran and a passenger, 25 year old Dystany Moran of Independence were transported to Central Community Hospital and transferred via Aircare to the University of Iowa Hospitals with critical injuries. Fish was transported to Crossing River's Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.  The cause of the accident remains under investigation
