On June 22, 2018, the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office apprehended John Clarence Gager Jr., age 31 of Elkader, on a Fayette County Warrant for Parole Violation with a No bond hold. Gager was then transported to the Fayette County Jail where he awaits an initial appearance.


On 6/23/18 at 5:38 PM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a F932 John Deere Commercial mower that struck a bridge and was in the ditch at 80th St and L Ave An investigation determined that Mark Alan Kuennen age 61 from Maynard was operating the John Deere southbound on L Ave when he hit potholes in the roadway causing the mower to hit the guard rail and end up in the ditch. Kuennen was transported to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein by private vehicle for minor injuries. There was an estimated $1000 damage.


On 6-22-18 at approx.. 9:44 p.m. the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a vehicle roll over on W Ave north of Hwy 3. Upon further investigation the driver of the 2008 Pontiac a 17 year old male, was traveling north on W Ave when he swerved to miss a deer and enter the east ditch rolling the vehicle over onto its top. The 17 year old was treated and released at the scene by Mercy Ambulance. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Fayette County Conservation, Oran Fire and first responders and Mercy Ambulance. The Pontiac was considered a total loss.
