The vehicle, a 2018 Honda Civic was stopped at the 18,000 block of Highway 3. Upon conducting an investigation the driver Vinai Vang age, 44 of Solon was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated first offense (serious misdemeanor) and fifth degree theft (simple misdemeanor) after a sign from a local state park was found in his vehicle.

On 5/24/18 at 9:08 PM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a vehicle that struck a deer on Great River Rd east of Juniper Rd. An investigation determined that Zachery James Ross age 26 from Garber was operating a 2014 Ford F150 eastbound on Great River Rd when a deer ran into the side of the vehicle. There was an estimated $5000 damage to the vehicle, Ross was not injured.

On 5/25/18 at 2:19 PM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a  single vehicle accident with injuries on Lincoln Rd north of King Rd. An investigation determined that Eric Lee Smorstad age 24 from Decorah was operating a 2004 Ford F150 northbound on Lincoln Rd when he lost control of the vehicle and entered the west ditch. Smorstad was transported by Tri State Ambulance to Palmer to be  evaluated for non-life threatening injuries. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the Scene by Iowa Department of Natural Resources, West Union Fire Department And Tri State Ambulance. The vehicle is considered a total loss. On 5/25/28 at 5:15 PM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a vehicle that struck a deer on Cedar and Bear Rd. An investigation determined that Nicolette Marie Mabb age 42 from Wadena was operating a 2018 Ford Explorer southbound on Cedar Rd when a deer entered the roadway and was struck. There was an estimated $5000 damage to the vehicle. Mabb and her passengers in the vehicle were not injured. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Wadena Fire Dept.

 
On 05/22/2018 a Fayette County Deputy responded to Prairie View Residential facility to investigate a suspicious item found by staff.  Upon completion of an investigation, it was learned that 29 year old Matthew Bohl of Mason City was in possession of drug paraphernalia.  Bohl was arrested and charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and transported to the Fayette County Jail where he awaits his initial appearance before a judge.
