Title of Release: Handgun reported in Lancaster High School parking lot

Date and Time: May 16, 2018, 4:00 PM

Offending party: Ryan McNamara-

On Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at approximately 4:56 PM the Lancaster Police Dept. was notified that a student had a handgun pointed at them at approximately 4:00 PM. Through the investigation it was discovered that Ryan McNamara pointed what he later said was an air soft gun at a student in the Lancaster High School parking lot. McNamara is a former student of Lancaster High School. The student said the gun looked like a Glock and didn’t know if it was real or not. McNamara was located and arrested in Cassville for the incident. McNamara said he used the air soft gun to scare the student. McNamara said he borrowed the air soft gun from a friend today and took it back to him. Through investigations, Ryan’s friend didn’t corroborate the story. McNamara was booked in for Disorderly Conduct at the advisement of District Attorney Riniker.

Through investigations it was learned that McNamara had access to a Glock and had been recently shooting one. There were no injuries from this incident.

This case has been forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for further review.

The Lancaster Police Department was assisted by the Cassville Police Department and the Grant County Sheriff’s Department.
