Crawford Releases

On Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at approximately 9:10 AM the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department was notified of a two-vehicle accident with no injuries or blockage at the intersection of State Hwy 35 and Hwy 82 in Freeman Township.

Wayne A. Hovden, age 80 of Ridgeway IA, was stopped at the stop sign on Hwy 82 waiting to make a left turn onto State Hwy 35 in a 2006 Buick sports utility vehicle. Albert J. Close, age 67 of Ferryville, WI was making a left turn onto Hwy 82 from State Hwy 35 pulling a boat and trailer in a 2009 Chevy Silverado truck. The Hovden vehicle pulled out making the left turn and struck the side of the boat and trailer.

Mr. Hovden and his passenger Patricia L. Hovden, age 81 also of Ridgeway, IA both claimed no injuries at the scene of the accident. Mr. Close also claimed no injuries at the scene.

Both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.

The accident remains under investigation

On Saturday, May 12, 2018, at 6:56 AM the Crawford County Dispatch Center was notified of a 1 vehicle crash off State Hwy 60, 1 Mile east of Wauzeka.
Cody Tamling age 23 of Wauzeka was driving a 1997 Jeep Wrangler west on 60 when He fell asleep. His vehicle went off the right side of the roadway, traveled along the ditch, hit a rock causing the vehicle to overturn coming to a stop in the flood waters.
Tamling was wearing his seatbelt and was able to exit the vehicle. He escaped any injury.
The Jeep was a total loss and was towed from the scene.
Tamling was cited for Inattentive Driving.
