Grant Fatality

On May 4, 2018, at around 5:30 pm, Jason Wachter, age 45 of Woodman was traveling between farms, going east on CTH C in Woodman Township approaching the intersection of Hwy 133 in his 2003 Ford F450. Kage Wachter, age 4 was sitting next to the passenger door, when the door opened and he fell from the truck. Kage was struck by the rear tires and became unresponsive. Jason, and another passerby began CPR until deputies, EMS, and MedFlight 2 arrived. All the lifesaving efforts were unable to revive Kage. The fatal crash investigation is still ongoing. The Grant County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Woodman First Responders, Boscobel EMS, Mt Hope Fire, UW Health MedFlight, Gundersen Boscobel, and the Grant County Coroners Office. This is the second motor vehicle fatality in Grant County for 2018.
