Two Vehicle Rear End Crash
Hwy 81 / HWY 61, LANCASTER, WI 53813
On April 30, 2018 at about 4:17 PM the Grant County Sheriff's Office received a call of a two vehicle crash in front of 5031 Hwy 81, Lancaster, WI. The investigating deputy learned that Allan Yearous, 56, of Lancaster, was driving his 2009 Chevy 2500 going east on Hwy 81. Yearous was slowing to turn right into the driveway at that address. At the same time, Nathan Klar, 35, of Cuba City, was driving a 2017 Ford F350 owned by Dairyland Power going east on Hwy 81 behind Yearous. Klar did not see Yearous slowing to turn into the driveway. He had glanced at work being done in a nearby field. By the time Klar noticed Yearous' vehicle, he was unable to stop before hitting the rear of the Chevy. Klar was uninjured in the crash and was wearing his seatbelt. Yearous reported a possible injury and was transported by EMS for evaluation.
He was not wearing a seatbelt.  Klar will be issued a citation for Inattentive Driving while Yearous will be cited for Driver Fail to Wear Seatbelt.  The Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by Lancaster EMS and Lancaster Fire.
1 Vehicle Rollover
On May 1, 2018, at 11:16 a.m., the Grant County Sheriff's Office was notified of a one vehicle rollover on STH 80/81 near the entrance to the Platteville Airport. The investigation shows a 1996 Ford Ranger was being operated by Tanner Farrey, 25, of Hazel Green, north on STH 80/81. Farry stated because of the heavy rain and high winds from a passing semi, he lost control of the vehicle, entered the ditch line and overturned. Farry and his passenger, Christopher Hynes, 37, of Hazel Green, were both transported to the Southwest Health Center by Southwest Health EMS with minor injuries. The vehicle was removed from the accident scene by Harley's Towing of Platteville. The crash remains under investigation.
