Report of man jumping from WI/IA Bridge
At approximately 5:20 a.m. on April 21, 2018, the Grant County Sheriff's Office communications
center received information from Dubuque County Dispatch of a male subject who text family members that he was going to jump off the bridge.  The subject's truck was located on the Wisconsin side of the bridge and was found to be unoccupied. At this time it is believed the subject did indeed jump off the bridge and a search was conducted to attempt to locate the subject. Law enforcement agencies from Dubuque, East Dubuque and Grant County along with fire departments from Jamestown, Dickeyville, East Dubuque and Cassville as well as Dickeyville EMS, the Grant County Dive team,
Dubuque County Dive team and the Iowa DNR aided in the search.  At this time all agencies are clear of the water until tomorrow morning, when the recovery efforts will resume with additional resources. At this time, this is an ongoing investigation and no further information will be released. If anyone has any further information into this matter, please contact the Grant County Sheriff's Office.
On April 22, 2018, the Sheriff's Office, along with assistance from Bruce's Legacy (http://www.bruceslegacy.com/)
searched the Mississippi River from the Wisconsin/Iowa bridge to the Julien Dubuque bridge and slightly beyond. They were unable to locate the subject that is believed to have jumped from the bridge.  At this time the Grant County Sheriff's Office is listing Herbert Muntz, age 57 of East Dubuque, IL, as a missing person.  The Grant County Sheriff's Office and the Dubuque County Sheriff's Office will be putting boats on the water in the next few days to resume recovery efforts.
