On 04/07/2018 at approx. 07:34 a.m. the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting an assault in progress at Prairie View Residential Facility. Upon investigation it was discovered that, 24 year old Brandon Dean Slayden of Cedar Falls who is a resident at Prairie View, had assaulted 3 residents at the care facility and had also broken a television. Slayden was transported to the Fayette County Jail, charged with 3 counts of assault causing bodily injury and 1 count of Criminal Mischief 4th degree. Slayden was held for an initial appearance.

On 04/09/2018 at approx. 7:56 AM The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Received a call reporting a head on collision on K Ave. just north of 50th St. When Deputies arrived it was learned that 56 year old Marjory Meyer was south Bound on K Ave. when she lost control of her 2014 Kia Sorrento. Meyer entered the north bound lane striking 34 year old Joshua Bond whom was north bound in a 2013 Ford F550. Meyer was transported via Oelwein Ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein and Bond and his passenger did not seek medical attention. Majory Meyer was cited for failure to maintain control. Fayette County Deputies where assisted on scene by Oelwein Fire, Oelwein Ambulance and Iowa State patrol.
