Dubuque Stabbing

On 04/01/2018, Dubuque Police responded to the 2100 block of Central Ave. for a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers observed citizens pulling a male off a female who was lying on the ground. Officers discovered the female had been stabbed. The female was identified as Pamela Smiley, age 47 of Dubuque. The male was identified as Clifford Smiley, age 51 of Chicago. Dubuque traffic camera footage from the area was reviewed which corroborated the incident and witness statements.

It is believed Pamela and Clifford are currently married or were married at some time. Pamela was transported to Finley Hospital and treated for several stab wounds. Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening at this time.

The ensuing investigation resulted in Clifford being charged with attempted murder. Attempted murder is a class B Felony punishable by confinement for no more than 25 years.

As with any criminal case, the charges filed are allegations and any suspect(s) charged are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.
