On February 27, 2018 Clayton County Deputies arrested 31 year old Thomas Cummings of Cedar Rapids on a Clayton County Warrant for Violation of the Sex Offender Registry for failing to register after moving to a different address. Cummings also had an email and Facebook Page he was using that was not reported on his Sex Offender Registry. He is currently being held in the Clayton County Jail on $1,000 cash bond.


On  February 27, 2018 at 5:36am, Clayton County Deputies responded to a car vs. deer accident on Highway 52 near Jigsaw Road. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Lawrence Oliver of Davenport was operating a 2000 Freightliner when he struck a deer causing $4,000 damage. No injuries were reported.


On February 27, 2018 at 6:37am, Clayton County Deputies responded to a car vs. deer accident on 205th Street near Garnavillo. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Bryon Millin of Strawberry Point was operating a 2004 Pontiac Montana Minivan when he struck a deer causing $2,500 damage.


On February 28, 2018, Clayton County Deputies were dispatched to North Buena Vista for a suspicious person near the baseball field. Deputies located a one pot methamphetamine laboratory and numerous other items used for the manufacturing of methamphetamines. Investigator’s determined that 32 year old Eric Shafer of North Buena Vista had broken into a utility shed where the manufacturing was taking place. Shafer is currently being charged with Burglary 3rd Degree. Additional charges of manufacturing methamphetamines are pending laboratory results from the Iowa DCI Laboratory. 


On February 28, 2018 Clayton County Deputies filed charges on 23 year old Warren Harvey of Strawberry Point for Burglary 3rd Degree (Class “D” Felony) and Criminal Mischief 3rd degree after a burglary investigation where Deputies were able to link Harvey to the scene with physical evidence located at the crime scene. Harvey is currently in custody in the Clayton County Jail on $20,000 bond.

On March 4, 2018, Clayton County Deputies arrested 34 year old Shawn Schultz of Postville for Driving While Barred and no insurance after he drove his vehicle to the Clayton County Law Enforcement Center. Schultz was held pending an initial appearance in magistrate court.

On March 5, 2018 at 11:09pm, Clayton County Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Highway 18 near Spook Cave Road for a speeding violation. Upon further investigation the Clayton County K9 was deployed. Deputies located Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Deputies arrested 33 year old Brian Langdon of West Union. He was transported to the Clayton County Jail. He was charged with Possession of a controlled substance- methamphetamine (Class “D” Felony), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Operating while intoxicated-drugged. He is currently being held on $2,500 cash bond.
