The Clayton County Board of Supervisors has approved a budget for the coming fiscal year with expenditures of $17,181,000, an increase of $195,763 for the current budget.  Included in the new budget are tax levies of $9.108 per $1,000 of assessed value for rural residents which is a decrease from this year’s $9.679, and $5.815 for urban residents compared to this year’s $6.308.  The new levies mean that a rural owner of a $100,000 home will pay $510 in the county’s share of property taxes, while an urban resident will pay $323.

The Supervisors also approved a two percent increase for county elected officials.  Compensation Board members had recommended a three percent increase.
