Crawford Accidents

 On Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at 11:14 am the Crawford County Sheriff Dept received a report of a two-vehicle accident in Prairie du Chien township at the intersection of Hwy 35 and Homesteader Ave.

An eastbound 2004 Ford pickup owned and operated by Sheldon Black Vincent Lara, 25 of PDC, WI was waiting at a stop sign on Homesteader Ave to pull onto Hwy 35.

A southbound 2015 Ford on HWY 35, owned and operated by Jill Ringen, 72 of Darlington, WI, was turning onto Homesteader Ave. The road was snow covered. Ringen slid into the Black vehicle.

There were no injuries.

Both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.

On Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018 at 5:35 am the Crawford County Sheriff Office received a report from a passing motorist of a car which was off the road and on the ice near Hwy 60 and Hwy 131.

An eastbound 2004 Ford 4 door owned and operated by Kaitlyn Leake, age 25 of Prairie du Chien, struck a patch of ice, went over a steep embankment and came to rest on the ice of a slough.

Leake was able to get a ride to Wauzeka where she reported the accident.

Hwy 60 was partially blocked for a short time while the vehicle was removed.

Kaitlyn was not injured.
The vehicle appeared to have minor damage.

Assisting at the scene was Wauzeka Fire Dept and Terry's Tire & Tow

On Monday, February 5, 2018, at approximately 1:22 PM the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department was notified of a one-vehicle accident on State Hwy 27 with no injuries.

Joshua T. Zauche, age 19 of Platteville, WI was traveling Southbound on State Hwy 27 in a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse. The Zauche vehicle was negotiating a sharp curve when it started to slide on the snow-covered and slippery roadway. The Zauche vehicle slid across the Northbound lane of traffic, continued off the left side of the roadway struck an embankment and came to rest.

Zauche claimed no injuries in the accident and had his seatbelt on at the time of the accident.

The vehicle sustained heavy frontend damage and was towed from the scene by Nagel’s Towing and Repair of Eastman, WI.

No citations issued.

 On Monday, February 5, 2018, at approximately 12:41 PM the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office was notified on a one-vehicle accident on State Hwy 60 just west of Hwy 61 (Boscobel bridge) with no injuries but damage to a traffic sign.

Brian A Evenson, age 43 of Steuben, WI was traveling westbound on State Hwy 60 in a 2000 Chevy S-10 truck owned by Prairie ready mix out of Prairie Du Chien, WI. The Evenson vehicle started to slide on the snow-covered and slippery roadway, went up on a small median and struck a traffic sign.

Mr. Evenson claimed no injuries from the accident and the vehicle was able to be driven from the scene.

 On Monday, February 5, 2018, at approximately 6:23 AM the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department was notified of a one-vehicle rollover accident on Halverson ridge rd. with no injuries in Clayton township.

John R. Latham age 59 of Boscobel, WI was traveling eastbound on Halverson ridge RD in a 2014 Chevy truck headed downhill. The Latham vehicle started to slide on the slippery roadway. The Latham vehicle slid sideways across the roadway, went up an embankment, rolled coming to rest on the top of the vehicle.

Latham claimed no injuries from the accident and had his seatbelt on at the time of the accident.

The vehicle was towed by Terry’s Tire and Tow of Boscobel, WI.
