Luana City Council Minutes of February 1, 2018

Meeting at the Luana City Hall

The Luana City Council held their regular monthly meeting Thursday, February, 1, 2018 at 7:00 pm. with Council Members Lonnie Baade, Paul Miller, Todd Olson and Jackie Radloff-Schneider present. Absent: Brenda Boddicker.

Mayor Jerry Schroeder called meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Minutes of January meeting were reviewed and approved upon a motion by Radloff-Schneider, second by Miller, carried unanimously.

Miller motioned to pay all monthly claims totaling $11,000.68, Olson second, carried unanimously. Receipts for the month totaled 33,487.03. Baade motioned to pass Res.2-18 T.O.F, Radloff-Schneider second, carried unanimously. Council reviewed reconciled reports.

Council reviewed prepared budget for FY2019. Public hearing scheduled for March 1, 2018.

Radloff-Schneider motioned to support the Substance Abuse Services for Clayton County in the amount of $120, Olson second, carried unanimously.

Andy Kelleher, IA House District #56, approached council inquiring about needs or issues the city has. Miller requested more grant funding for sewer projects.

Matt Baade, Luana Fire Dept., informed the council of the annual fireman’s appreciation dinner will be February 10th at 6 pm. Cost of water/sewer infrastructure for new fire house were discussed. Using four inch lines for water supply were decided. Easement/zoning ordinance was clarified for the fire department. Insurance for new fire house was discussed and tabled at this time. Keith Johnson, Luana Fire Dept. thanked the city for their continued support. Fire Chief, Lonnie Baade, informed the council that the projected completion date for new fire house will be by Luana Daze, August 2018.

Baade motioned to update cities virus protection, Miller seconded, carried unanimously.

PWS informed council he will begin looking for new riding mower for the city.

Council discussed helping with the cost of new roads within Countryside Estates.

Next regular Council meeting will be held March 1, 2018 at 7:00pm.

Mayor Schroeder adjourned the meeting at 8:05 pm.
