THE POSTVILLE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT TOOK POSSESION OF A NEW 23-HUNDRED GALLON TANKER/TENDER THIS PAST WEEK.  THE TOTAL COST OF THE NEW APPARATUS WAS $234,618 IN WHICH THE FIRE DEPARTMENT RECEIVED $14,500 FROM THE ALLAMAKEE COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION, $13,000 FROM UPPER MISSISSIPPI GAMING CORPORATION, $6,000 FROM THE ARLIN FALCK FOUNDATION AND $5,000 FROM AREA AMBULANCE SERVICE/HEALTHCARE FOUNDATION.  THE CITY OF POSTVILLE AND RURAL FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT EACH PROVIDED $50,000 AND $50,000 LOAN TAKEN OUT.  THE POSTVILLE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT CONTRIBUTED $36,618 FROM ITS ANNUAL FUND DRIVE AND CHARITABLE ACCOUNT AND WILL ALSO ASSIST IN THE REPAYMENT OF BORROWED FUNDS THROUGH THE CITY.  THE NEW TRUCK IS ON A FREIGHLINER CHASSIS AND BUILT BY TOYNE, INC OUT OF BREDA, IOWA.
