Scam Recovery

By: News Release
Jan 25th, 2018

The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office is working jointly with victims of financial scams to help recover some of their losses.  Currently the Federal Trade Commission has funding for victims of financial scams occurring between the dates of January 2004 – January 2017 from a successful lawsuit with Western Union.  The Sheriff’s Office has reached out directly to identified victims who have used this method to send money out of state or country and is processing these complaints while assisting with the claims process.  The deadline for filing a claim is February 12, 2018.  We are reaching out to anyone victimized by an online, telephone, or written scam during this time period who did not report and sent money through Western Union to contact our office at 563-245-2422.
