On 1/21/18 at 9:03 PM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a vehicle in the ditch in the 24000 block of 170th St at the Bremer/Fayette County Line. An investigation determined that Michael David Alderson age 30  from Sumner was operating a 2007 Dodge Dakota westbound on 170th St when he lost control. The vehicle entered the north ditch, crossed over a private driveway and struck a tree. Alderson was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Community Memorial Hospital in Sumner. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Bremer County Sheriff’s Office, Sumner Police Dept., Sumner Fire Dept. and Ambulance. The vehicle is considered a total loss and charges are pending.


On January 19, 2018, at approximately 9:25 pm the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a multiple complaints of harassment in the Hawkeye area. After further investigation, Brian David Coonradt, age 53 of Hawkeye, was arrested for Harassment in the 3rd Degree (simple misdemeanor) and Extortion (D Felony). Coonradt was arrested and transported to the Fayette County Jail where he currently awaits an initial appearance.


On January 21, 2018, at approximately 03:59 am the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a vehicle that had struck a cow on Lincoln Road just south of 265th Street; approximately 4 miles north of West Union. Upon further investigation by Sheriff’s Deputy it was determined that Angela Kay Corcoran, age  46 of Ryan, was driving a White 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe LT north bound when due to foggy conditions she was unable to avoid striking a 350lb steer calf in the traveled portion of the roadway. The vehicle sustained approximately $1500 in damage and no injuries were reported.
