On December 22nd, 2017 at approximately 4:26 p.m. Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to 18569 Lane Road in reference to an assault. Upon conducting an investigation it was discovered that Dallas Michael James, age 22 of Kelsey, Iowa assaulted another male resident. James was arrested and charged with assault and disorderly conduct both simple misdemeanors. Dallas was transported to the Fayette County Jail where he awaits initial appearance.

 

On December 22, 2017, the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Cole Michael Johnson, age 24 of Independence, on five warrants from Fayette County: Domestic Abuse Assault, Violation of No Contact Order, Burglary in the 3rd Degree, Stalking, and Driving while Barred. Johnson was then transported to the Fayette County Jail where he awaits an initial appearance. Johnson is being held on a $20,000 cash only bond.

 

On 12/30/17 at 6:12 PM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took a 911 call reporting a disturbance in Wadena. Upon investigating the incident Fayette County Deputy’s arrested   David Shannon Cooley age 36 from Wadena. Cooley was transported to the Fayette County Jail where he was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault and held in the Fayette County Jail pending an appearance with a Magistrate.

 

 

On December 29th, 2017 at approximately 2:30 PM Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the area of Highway 187 and I Avenue in reference to a two vehicle property damage accident. Upon arrival it was discovered that Terrance Martowski, age 25 of East Haven, Connecticut was rear ended by Chad Whittle, age 33 of Arlington, IA. Upon conducting an investigation it was further discovered that Martowski was making a left hand turn when a snow plow had passed causing low visibility due to blowing snow. Whittle then struck Martowski’s 2017 Hyundai Elantra with his 2006 Ford F150 causing Martowski to travel into the North ditch. Both vehicles sustained disabling major damages. Minor injuries were reported. The incident remains under investigation. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa D.N.R.

 

On 12-30-17 at approximately 10:30 pm a Fayette County Deputy stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Upon investigation Michael Lewis, 23 of Hazelton was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance(marijuana), Possession of drug paraphernalia, Driving While License suspended, driving on the wrong side of a two lane highway, and speeding. He is being held at the Fayette County Jail awaiting an initial appearance. This incident remains under investigation and more charges are pending.

 

On 12-31-17 at approximately 2:36 AM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Apple Road east of Clermont. Upon investigation it was determined that, John Youngblood 47 of Clermont lost control of his 2004 Ford due to weather conditions causing his vehicle to slide into the ditch. The vehicle received approx. $3000.00 worth of damage. There was also damage to a county road’s sign. There were no injuries and this accident remains under investigation.

 

On 1-1-18, at approximately 7:00 AM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a disabled vehicle near the intersection of  R Avenue and 100th St.  After an investigation Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Jade Mcallister, 33 of Oelwein, for Driving While License Revoked, a serious misdemeanor, and No Proof of Insurance, a Simple Misdemeanor.  Mcallister was taken into custody and transported to Fayette County Jail, where she awaits initial appearance. 

 

On 1/1/18 the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took custody of Jason Wayne Lafond age 37 from Cedar Rapids. Lafond was arrested and transported from the Linn County Jail to the Fayette County Jail. Lafond had a Mittimus warrant for failing to serve two days in jail as ordered by the court. (original charge-carrying weapons). Lafond will be held in the Fayette County Jail to serve his sentence then released to appear in court at a later date for a contempt hearing.

On December 28, 2017 at approx. 8:26 AM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a vehicle rollover accident on Eisenhower Rd/Hwy 187 just west of Arlington.  When deputies arrived it was learned that Charley Baker, 65 of Arlington was west bound on Eisenhower Rd. when he  lost control of his 2004 Pontic Sunfire.  The Driver entered the south ditch rolling his vehicle several times and coming to rest on the roof.  Baker was transported to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein for non-life threating injuries,  Baker’s vehicle is considered a total loss. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by Arlington Fire and EMS.  The accident remains under investigation.


On December 23, 2017, at approximately 2:15 am the Fayette County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a 911 call of a vehicle in the ditch on Great River Road in the 7000 block, just 3 miles west of Clermont. Sheriff's Deputies arrived on scene and conducted an investigation. It was found that Chase Henry Heying, age 24 of Ossian, was traveling west bound in a Gray 1997 Geo Prizm when he entered the north side ditch and struck a culvert. Heying received serious injuries and was transported to Palmer Lutheran Hospital in West Union. Heying was later flown to LaCrosse,WI, for further medical treatment. The vehicle is considered a total loss. This accident remains under investigation. The Fayette County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Clermont Fire Department and Clermont Ambulance.
