On November 18, 2017 at 12:45am, Clayton County Deputies along with the Guttenberg Police Department received a 911 call from a cell phone in area of the Dam Sports Bar in Guttenberg. The subject on the phone was making vulgar and inappropriate sexual statements to 911 dispatchers. Clayton County Dispatchers were able to do an in-house search on the phone number and were able to identify the owner of phone as Trevor Kelly. During the investigation, 26 year old Trevor Kelly of Guttenberg was located. Deputies observed signs of intoxication while speaking with Kelly. Kelly was arrested and transported to the Clayton County Jail where he was charged with Public Intoxication-2nd Offense (Serious Misdemeanor). The incident remains under investigation by the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office and the Guttenbedrg Police. Additional suspects may be charged with misuse of 911.

On November 17, 2017 Clayton County Deputies charged 64 year old William Newman of Waterloo with Assault on a Correctional Officer and Criminal Mischief 3rd degree. Newman while incarcerated caused damage to Clayton County Jail property exceeding $500. Newman also grabbed a Correctional Officer in an attempt to gain control over the Officer. No injuries were sustained to Newman or the Correctional Officer.
On November 17, 2017, Clayton County Deputies arrested and charged 21 year old Jacob Nehl of McGregor with Forgery (Class D Felony) and Theft 4th Degree (Serious Misdemeanor) stemming from an investigation where Nehl forged a check from $5 to $505 and cashed the check at a local bank. Nehl was transported to the Clayton County Jail where he is being held on $30,000 bond.

On November 16, 2017 at 4:00pm, Clayton County Deputies responded to a car vs deer accident on Bush Road near A Ave. Upon further investigation it was determined that Paige Funk of Garber was operating a 2006 Lincoln LS when she struck a deer causing $5,500 damage. No injuries were reported.

 
On November 16, 2017 at 5:07pm, Clayton County Deputies responded to a car vs deer accident on Domino Road near Elkader. Upon further investigation it was determined that Brenda Hach of Elkader was operating a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country minivan when she struck a deer causing $6,500 damage. No injuries were reported.
