Crawford Accident

 On Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at approximately 9:24 P.M., the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a two-vehicle traffic crash on S Main St. in the Village of Eastman.

Zachary R. Swiggum, age 16, of Eastman, WI was operating a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix Northbound on S Main Street. Swiggum fell asleep and crossed the centerline into the southbound lane. Swiggum then struck a parked 2008 GMC Evoy owned by Robert D. Martin, age 69 of Eastman, WI. Swiggum struck the parked vehicle head-on causing it to move 21 feet from where it was originally parked. Martins’ vehicle was legally parked. As a result of the crash Swiggum’s airbags deployed.

Swiggum was cited for Inattentive Driving.

Swiggum suffered a minor injury in the crash and was able to leave on his own accord. Both vehicles sustained severe damage. Assisting on scene was Milo’s Towing, Bob’s Towing, Eastman Fire Department, Eastman First Responders and Tri-State Ambulance.
