Speeding stop leads to marijuana and paraphernalia citations
On September 22, 2017 at 2:51 PM a Grant County Deputy stopped a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Daniel St. Michael Williams, age 22 of Dubuque, IA, for speeding, 75 MPH in a 55 MPH zone on Hwy 11 west of Hill Rd, Hazel Green Township, WI. The deputy could smell the odor of marijuana in the car while he was talking to Williams. After a brief investigation, a small bag of marijuan and a glass marijuana smoking pipe were recovered from the vehicle. The deputy also learned that Williams' driving status was revoked in Iowa. Williams did not have insurance on his vehicle.
Williams was cited for Speeding, Operating Without a Valid License, Possession of THC, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was issued a written warning for Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance.

2 vehicle crash with injury
On September 23 at approximately 7:32 pm the Grant County Sheriff's Office received a report of a traffic crash involving injury and road blockage, The crash was reported to have occurred at US Hwy 18 and Cty. Hwy JJ in Mt. Hope Township.. John Schnitzler 40, of Mt Hope was west bound in his 2005 Chevy truck. Robyn Maxey 24, of Appleton was east bound in her 2009 Dodge. Schnitzler attempted to turn
south onto Hwy JJ in the path of Maxey's auto causing a collision. Assisting the Grant County Sheriff's Office at the scene was Mt. Hope fire. Fennimore Fire and EMS, Fennimore Police Department. B and M Auto assited in removal of the vehicles. Both drivers were transported to Grant Regional with non-life threatening injuries. The crash remains under investigation.

Car vs. Tractor Crash
On September 23, 2017 at 7:56 PM the Grant County Sheriffs Office was dispatched to Highway 151 near mile marker 5, in the northbound lane for a two vehicle crash with road blockage.
The investigation of the crash determined that Ashley Mezera, age 28 of Boscobel, was driving her 2015 Subaru SUV in the right hand northbound lane and failed to yield the right of way to a slow moving International tractor, driven by Daniel Downing, age 27 of Cuba City, which caused her to strike the rear of the tractor. The impact of the crash caused the tractor to cross into the left hand lane, coming to a stop
in the median with Mezera's vehicle coming to a stop in the roadway causing the blockage of both northbound lanes. The Grant County Sheriffs Office was assisted at the scene by Jamestown Fire, Jamestown First Responders, Dickeyville Fire, and Dickeyville EMS. The tractor was removed by Guys Truck and Tractor Services and the Subaru SUV was removed by Kieler Service Center. Mezera was wearing her seatbelt. The crash remains under investigation.

On Sunday, September 24, 2017 at 12:13 P.M. the Grant County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a two vehicle crash with unknown injuries on Hwy 35/61/151 south of Hwy 11/35 near exit 1 in Jamestown Township.
After arriving and speaking with the subjects involved it was determined Wainwright was traveling north in the right lane on a four-lane highway on Hwy 35/61/151. Wainwright stated while traveling northbound he turned into the left lane to attempt a U-Turn so he could travel back to Dubuque. Wainwright stated he didn't see the vehicle in the left lane when he turned into the left lane and began slowing down to turn into the median. Wainwright was struck by Peterson who was traveling in the left lane. Both vehicles came to a rest in the median. Wainwright's vehicle had left side damage and Peterson's vehicle had front end damage. Wainwright's vehicle was removed by Biedler Towing from Dubuque IA, and Peterson's vehicle was removed by Donnie's Tire & Tow from Dickeyville. At the time of the accident Wainwright was wearing his seatbelt, no airbags were deployed. At the time of the crash all parties in Peterson's were wearing their seat belts and child restraint seat was used for the child. No airbag deployed. No injuries were reported by anyone involved.
The Grant County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Dickeyville Rescue Squad, and Jamestown First Responders. Wainwright will be issued a citation for Inattentive Driving.
