On 9-16-17 at approximately 2:40 p.m., the Grant County Sheriff’s Office was advised of a possible drowning on the Wisconsin River about 1 mile east of Blue River. The Blue River Fire Department and the Boscobel Fire Department had boats on the water within a few minutes of the call.
The investigation showed that a church group from Greenfield, WI was canoeing on the river and stopped at a sandbar. The kids were playing in the water and it appeared a couple of the kids were in trouble, so Myren went to help the kids. Myren stepped off the sandbar and was pulled under water by the current and did not resurface.
Myren was recovered from the water about 5:00 p.m., by one of the search & rescue boats and was pronounced deceased by the Richland County Coroner’s Office. No life Jackets were being used. Assisting at the scene was Wisconsin DNR, Blue River Fire Department, Blue River EMS, Boscobel Fire Department, Lone Rock Fire Department, and the Richland County Sheriff’s Office
