Grant Accidents

On Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 1:12 P.M. the Grant County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a motorcycle crash with injuries on Hwy 133 south of Clauer LN in Potosi Township. After an investigation, it was determined that Trenton Meyers, age 19 of Wausau, WI, had been traveling North on Hwy 133 negotiating a curve when his rear tire hit the shoulder of the road. The rear tire kicked out causing Meyers to lose control of his motorcycle. Meyers came to a rest after hitting a guardrail. Meyers received a right leg injury. The Grant County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Potosi Rescue. Meyers was transported to Southwest Health Center for treatment. At the time of the incident Meyers was wearing a helmet.
The motorcycle was removed by some friends of Meyers. No citations were issued.

On 9/18/2017, at around 5:10 am, Nicole Statz, age 17 from Platteville, was driving her 2006 Buick southbound on CTH-D near Southwest road. Nicole drove onto the shoulder of the road while negotiating a curve forcing her into the ditch striking a utility power. Nicole was able to get out of her vehicle and walk to a residence near to get help. Nicole was transported to Southwest hospital in Platteville with minor injuries.  Assisting at the scene Platteville Fire, Southwest EMS , Precision Auto, and Scenic River Energy. The crash remains under investigation.
